Nvidia's "AI for All: From Basics to GenAI Practice" Course (Critique)

Nvidia’s "Generative AI Explained" course … actually, the course name changed to AI for All: From Basics to GenAI Practice, is roughly 2 hours long.

Wait … 3.5 hours long …

They really meant maybe 3.4 hours long??

So it’s longer than advertised.

Overview:

There is A LOT of info packed into these videos and the course consists of 3 units:

·        Unit 1 – AI Transformation Across Industries

·        Unit 2 – Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

·        Unit 3 - Generative AI and Beyond (which consists of 3 subunits)

o   3.1 Generative AI Overview

o   3.2 Image Generation using Generative AI

o   3.3 Beyond Generative AI

·        Unit 4 – Accelerating AI with GPUs

Each unit has a short quiz at the end and there is a final 17 question course completion quiz. All short quizzes allow you multiple attempts with the passing score being 100. All your attempts are saved so you can review which answers you got wrong or right. The course completion quiz allows 2 attempts with any further attempts requiring you to contact Nvidia to try again.

Issues and Critiques

Here are some issues I found and some critiques I have:

  •       UI – a ‘Next’ or ‘Continue’ button to go through the course would be helpful. Instead, one has to use the navigation breadcrumb to go back to the course units and choose the next part of the course from there.

  •       Unit 3 videos lack the breaks in the video to show where new sections / topics are.
  •       Earlier videos use terminology that are only defined in later videos.
  •       Too much info on the slides can be overwhelming.
  •       Volume is quite low and even dips in sections of certain videos.
  •       3.3 - Beyond Generative AI (26 min) – is actually 29.25 minutes long, (because it repeats a section at around the 24 minute mark ... twice).

For the Resource link (which is supposed to bring the user to a PDF summary of the unit), clicking on it brings the user to this error page:

However, opening the link in a new tab will bring up the page with the link to the PDF (although the link is not colored so a user may not know it is a link).

  •       Quiz question “Which of the following best describes agentic AI?” has the question as an answer option.

  •       4 - Accelerating AI with GPUs (22 min) – video says ‘to view Huang’s keynote address, click on video’ à what video??
  •       Video mentions the Grace Hopper Superchip will be covered in Unit 7, however, this course only has 4 units.
  •       Unit 4 (around the 17 minute mark) has a sort of advertisement for Nvida’s hardware products. If a user is not familiar with computer hardware, this will go over their heads. (This course is supposed to be for everyone.)

Course Completed Email, No Certificate

There is no certificate upon completion, despite stating that they do.

From their developer forums:

Additional Issue

As of August 17, 2025, the Nvidia course catalogue cannot filter for Certificate courses.

You do get an email confirming that you completed the course. So, yea, I guess?

Overall, this course looked promising, but it also gave the impression that it hasn’t finished baking and they put it out there. It had issues with the UI, spelling, and content. It is advertised as a quick course, which is why I took it. However, after taking this course, I can’t say the experience has encouraged me to take anymore courses from Nvidia.

Update:

As of August 17, 2025 at around 7:11PM EST I checked the course unit page and they do issue a certificate??
